Who Loves Them More?

Part of the pain of our most recent situation has been the unjust hurt it causes my children. As a mom, it breaks my heart to see them miss their dad, feeling disconnected and helpless. It’s just not fair! I want to fix it for them. I want to do something to right the wrong!

When we first found out that we would be moving to Wisconsin, I made sure to emphasize the advantage it would be to our family. We would finally be close enough to Dad to visit him all the time. Moving is hard. It’s not just the work; it’s the emotional upheaval. And although kids are resilient, it hits them hard too.  Our boys have grieved leaving their cousins, grandparents, friends, school, house, dog, chickens, the beach, and everything familiar. They have felt the pain. And now, we are here, and there isn’t an obvious up-side. Nothing to fill the void.

I love my boys fiercely. I am passionate about doing everything I can for their good. This doesn’t feel like it can possibly be about good. But today God said to me, “Tabitha, who loves your boys more? You or me? You can’t possibly love them like I do. And you can’t possibly do for them what I can. The pain isn’t lost. It isn’t wasted.  Their pain is not overlooked by Me. I see it. And I care. Because I love your boys fiercely and I am passionate about working together all things for their good.”

Again my convicted heart cries out, “Oh, God, you are good and do only good. This I believe…help my unbelief.”

  • Thinking of you Tabitha and praying for you all!! Was doing my trek around the gym exercising and praying for you all today and asking God for specifics. Can’t wait to see Him answer! You are so right, HE IS GOOD AND DOES ONLY GOOD. It may not look like good to us, but it is. And so many times, I have found that those hard things our kids go through, that we so desperately want to protect them from, are the things in the end that draw them to trust and rely on God, soften their hearts, and make them caring and loving people who look around and care for others! What greater thing can we desire than that our children “walk in truth”. I know I am not saying anything you don’t know, but want to encourage you that we are “with” you and love you!! You are not alone!

  • For since the beginning of the world men have not heard , nor perceived by the ear , neither hath the eye seen , O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him. Is 64:4
