The Lambs He Holds Close

Isa. 40:11 “He tends His flock like a shepherd. He gathers the lambs and carries them close to His heart.”

So many places in Scripture the Lord is referred to as a Shepherd caring for His sheep. And many lessons can be learned from this word picture.  This verse is particularly precious to me as I anticipate our move to Wisconsin. As excited as I am about Joel getting released early and our family being together again, it’s hard to move. Not just physically, but emotionally as well.

God has blessed our family here in Florida, surrounding us with family who have walked this valley with us. He has given my boys and me close spiritual friends. This network of godly support has lent such security to our lives in the middle of the troubled waters we have navigated.

Now we are leaving that behind. And I have to admit it’s downright scary. I do not know what I am going to do without my dad around to fix everything that breaks. And without my father-in-law who does a myriad of errands for me and the kids. And without the grandmas who lovingly care for Roman while I work. And without my sisters who share carpool, help with homework, and make every holiday a celebration. And without my friend who speaks truth into my life with such candor it cannot be ignored. The list goes on and on.  My heart aches inside my chest as I write this.

But in the middle of that ache, God speaks His comfort. Each family member and friend who has participated in this agonizing journey that our family is now on, was put there by God. He truly is the God of ALL comfort. My security comes from Him.  And that will still be true in Wisconsin, just as it has been true here in Florida. I am His Lamb, and it is He who holds me close to His heart.

  • Oh, so true Tabitha. We are all his lambs and I just love thinking of what he is doing now and will continue to do for us all in all of these changes. I love you sooooo much. Mom Price
