I’m a hard one to surprise, although I love surprises. I seem to tune in to clues and figure them out before they happen. Just ask my sister or my mom how many times they’ve tried to surprise me and how often they’ve actually succeeded. They get mad at me for guessing before the “surprise” happens. But I don’t mean to thwart their clandestine operations. I just do.

Still there have been a precious few times in life when I’ve been surprised in an amazing, awesome way! Roman is one of those surprises that keeps on surprising…but that’s a story for another time. Some of the best surprises have had the obvious fingerprint of God on them. An unexpected visit from a friend in my hour of need,  CD’s full of current Christian music during a time of deep struggle and personal loneliness, a check at the last minute to pay the mortgage,  and today a call out of the blue about a Thanksgiving basket created especially for our family!

Today I am thankful for the surprise blessings that come with a little “I love you” tag from God!
