Left Overs

This evening the boys and I read the story of Jesus feeding 5000 men with five loaves and two fish. We marveled at the 12 extra baskets. I asked Marshall why there was so much left over. Marshall’s answer, “That way it’s obvious that everyone got as much as they wanted. It wasn’t like they just got the bare amount. They got plenty. And maybe the left overs were to show that God provides plentifully.”Marshall went on to suggest that the people who followed Jesus weren’t usually wealthy. Perhaps the meal He provided was the only one they would get for a while. Jesus’s genuine, personal care for people is so evident in this story. The left overs serve as one more reminder that God is not a stingy God. He is lavish, generous, and prodigal. He gives with abandon.

  • I love Marshall’s comment! How very true and to think that a child is able to perceive GOD’s extravagant LOVE. We honor our Heavenly Father when we do the same. Blessings~
